This thread is one of the reasons I really need to make time to get down to Cover Runs for the next season!

This thread is one of the reasons I really need to make time to get down to Cover Runs for the next season! Definitely worth coming to, the Understudy Runs are one of my favourite things the RSC do - there are some incredibly talented people hidden in the ensemble and I'm nearly always pleased to catch an understudy in anything, can really alter the dynamics. Plus it's a great way to spot some of the subtleties of people's performances. And then you can play the understudy game where you work out your perfect mix of the two casts.

A game I play too often in musicals, but never get the chance to in plays! Just try to go on the imagination game of "well, they are good at that, and they cover this.. oo that could be good".
One example being Geoffery Freshwater and Antony, he is one of the standouts in this ensemble for me and would love to see him tackle a role like Mark Antony (he's wasted as Agrippa, same as Katy Stephens as Eros)

I spoke to Richard on Saturday and asked what language they're singing. Moroccan, as far as he knows. Though none of them have any clue what they're singing. He recited it to me, lots of "ah yay na go lo" stuff (I'm making that up, cause I can't remember it).
I also caught sight of the scene lists for the other plays; all normal and not at all humorous. I wonder who did this one then? lol

Ok so R&J is up and running in London and has caused quite a stir. I was there on first preview and it was a cracking performance. Forbes Masson (who missed Newcastle due to illness) did a wonderful job, though he was teetering in his sandals a bit by the finish. Off home to a good rest methinks. Richard Katz nearly caused a calamity by setting fire to his face. Thankfully only his fake beard came off the worse for wear. Anyway, here's a selection of this weeks reviews...
