Since we've been discussing understudies in the R&J thread, I never caught Darrell D'Silva in the role of Kent, but his understudy Paul Hamilton. I absolutely loved him! Of course, I can't compare the two. I also found it interesting that they cast a woman as the Fool. Kathryn Hunter did a brilliant job! And all I can say to Greg Hicks is

Of course, I can't compare the two. I have to say I'm very jealous of you, Paul Hamilton is one of my absolute favourites in the ensemble and he does a fantastic Kent. I saw him at the Understudy Run, but would have loved to see him play it opposite Greg Hicks (who as you say, is exceptional). He's one of the best parts of Antony and Cleopatra too, although it's a fairly small role - I just wish he'd had bigger parts during his time with the company - ah well, still a year to go and shall just have to watch out for what he's doing in the future. I almost come at it from the other angle - I saw Paul's Kent, and am now eager to see Darrell's version. Need to learn to see more cover runs!
I'm showing my lack of knowledge but who is he in A&C?
On the other hand - I didn't think very much of Hunter's portrayal of the Fool, she certainly has the physicality for it, but I just question it - didn't sound right.
Lear is one of the shows I definitely plan on trying to catch at the Roundhouse!

I'm showing my lack of knowledge but who is he in A&C? He's Diomedes, the messenger who has the difficult task of describing Octavia to Cleopatra. It was his first scene with Kathryn Hunter when she first started to gel for me in the role.

Ahhh right, in the condensed down version of the piece that I worked with recently - we transfered that to Eros (both him and Soothsayer came out very well after we cut out 30 minutes!).
