Do ducks like cheese cake, was the first thought I had this morning as I awoke from my slumber in the Twelfth Night Guest house My room number 2 or Petruchio They do serve an excellent English if anyone is thinking of staying and beds are sofe and warm. They also have a very friendly cat always a bonus. The reason for the cheesecake comment is I have some but don't fancy it now, purchased for my journey here if failed in getting eaten. I was wondering about feeding it to the Ducks. Well to YPS now I think as it's 9.30 and well what to do after the Dirty Duck for lunch or some little Tea Shop for a cream tea. a play to go until I have that hard choice. More of my day later folks

The simple answer to the question above is yes Swan will eat anything
Well the second answer is well it just has to be the Duck, lunch is British Beef & Ruddles Ale Pie with Chips and a pint
My first experince of Young Shakespeare production, being faster paced than the normal productions I was gripped right from the start. My attention and that of the hundreds of children around me fully focused on the stage.
Once again in a play I found myself totaly spell bound by the comic timing and performance of Richard Katz, and enthralled with the Christine Entwisle(who seemed to be suffering from a cold it's symptoms encorporated into the play) no actress can I think grown the same as she can. Maybe over looked sometimes a big hand should always I think be given to the set designers who are maybe some of the most inventive around a fridge as a jail and a washing machine as a safe do suprisingly not look out of place in Shakespeares world.
While the play is trimmed in lenght, it is in no way dumbed down for the kids(who I must applaud for in the main staying still and silent). It was a pleasure to find many of them afterwards as they marched away chatting excitedly about it.
Well time to think about desert the swans having eaten my cheesecake before the start of Hamlet in about 45 mins

Well let me just say it and get it out of the way I don't like Hamlet(come to that I'm not that fond of MacBeth either). While this is a fine performance on behalf of the actors, the play itself just leaves me cold. I really can't say anything else about this performance, once again the kids watching seemed to enjoy, which is great.
To end on a different note I will miss this venue, it's been along time since I was last in The Swan, but I don't ever remember feeling as close to the actors or the plays as I do in The Courtyard, you at times feel part of the performance not just a viewer. A feeling I can not remember ever feeling in the Swan. The Courtyard is that old scruffy coat you love that makes warm and safe. I hope that the new venues soon have that feeling with out to much of that scratchy new clothes itchyness.

According to the people I talked to, the audience will be even closer than in the Courtyard in the new old theatres when they're finished ;D
