Information for Silence...
A Filter and RSC Co-Production Directed by David Farr Hampstead Theatre 12 May 2011 - 28 May 2011 She's listening. The whirr of a lift in the early hours of the morning. The gurgle of water pipes. The traffic's drone. The street light's buzz. The thud of boots on stairs. The cry of a baby. The hiss of reel to reel. The drip of icy water. Will there never be silence? Silence follows a disenchanted British journalist traveling to Moscow to meet a controversial theatre-maker. There she uncovers more than she bargains for and profound truths about her own past. After their successful collaboration on the visually stunning Water (Lyric Hammersmith, 2007), Filter once again team up with director David Farr to create a multi-sensory narrative about artists and their voices. Also, Filter have mentioned a few things about the rehearsal process... "What are we doing? We're going camping in some woods with RSC cast to record Silence. Oh dear oh dear could be messy." "Back safe and sound from a night in the woods. All had much fun but we are stinking." "Great end to the first week of “Silence” rehearsals. We can’t wait to send the cast out on their tasks. If you see Jonjo O’Neill anywhere near the Thames with a hydrophone go and find out what he’s doing."
